8.6 News URL

It is possible to read Usenet newsgroups, accessed from a remote NNTP News server. This is done using the news: URL. The specification for the news URL is 
news:news.group
Where news.group is the name of the newsgroup. Note that this does not specify the NNTP news server: this must be specified elsewhere. For example, Web clients on UNIX machines often require that you set the environment variable NNTPSERVER to the desired news server. Most browsers let the user set this in a configuration or preferences menu.
